Sweden pilot projects

Art of hosting

3 Pilot Actions took place in Sweden in the 15 month-period between January 2016 and May 2017 – each in a different district of the Municipality of Göteborg:

The first Pilot Action was designed as a response to the fact that, in spite of their participation in empowerment- and/or vocational-training courses run by the Employment Services, many women – especially those of foreign origin - do still not find employment in Sweden. The group wanted to apply the principles and methods of the Art of Hosting to give a voice to the women and explore those obstacles and, more especially, the needs they might express towards employers.

IPS

The second Pilot Action came from the priority set by the Swedish working-group to explore further the individualised approach towards supporting unemployed women into activity. Their target group was the especially marginalised group of women with affective disorders or mental illnesses and they used the methodology of Individualised Placement Support to explore how to develop sheltered work placements which could evolve into more permanent employment opportunities.

Social Entrepreneurship

The third Pilot Action targeted another group of unemployed women – who had already been involved to some degree in empowerment processes. This action was based on a collaboration between Municipal services and an economic cooperative, Coompanion and set out to investigate the best method to attract unemployed women with a foreign background to start up a social business.
